A Windows utility program to easily generate or translate year-days. Ever notice the purchase order numbers on some invoices? You might see something like "JF30604-4" as the invoicing number. Or have you ever noticed similar product labeling? Something like "30604-009b" in the date code area?
Sometimes this sequence of numbers isn't as unknown or complicated as it may seem! Many companies use the year-day method to generate a unique sequence of numbers that can be assigned to an invoice or product. This method makes it easy to read at a later date and know what it means as well as create a unique number that isn't redundant other than the date. Here's how this works...
The year-day is a numeric expression of what day in the year to apply. There are 365 days in a year (366 =leap). In the invoice sample we quoted let's say the purchasing agents name is Jim Furguson and he's making his 4th purchase of the day on November 1, 2004. This date is the 306th day of the year and has 60 days remaining in the year. So by appending his initials and the two digit year we get: JF30604. Since this is his 4th order he's making it becomes JF30604-4. Now just by looking at the sequence we can see it represents the 4th purchase on the 306th day of the year 2004 and was made by JF! We can apply the same approach to a product's manufacturing code too. In our sample above we see it's the same Year-day/year except it represents the 9th unit and is footnoted "b" as an indicator of some manufacturing process or variation: "30604-009b".

Supported Platforms
This program is written for the Windows platform and runs fine on Win95, NT (any ver), Win98, Win98se, and Win XP.
It is not compatible with Win2000 or Millennium Windows! It's a Bug in those operating systems that Microsoft never fixed. Sorry but if you have these versions we suggest you upgrade since many 3rd party "Windows" applications won't run under them either!
